Otoplasty

An otoplasty, also known as ear surgery, is a surgical procedure which aims to change the size, shape, or the angle of the pinna to achieve a more aesthetically pleasing appearance. This type of surgery is well known as there are many people who suffer from some kind of complex with their ears. In many cases, it is a physical defect that may even have caused some kind of childhood trauma, it is also common for ear operations to be performed in Granada on child patients. This means they will no longer have to put up with being teased by others, the solution to the problem is in our hands.

To carry out an otoplasty, the surgeon will have to make an incision behind the ear, and even though this is made in a part that is barely visible, the scarring will also be almost unnoticeable. After the incision is made, the doctor will remodel the cartilage to shape the ear.

The results of the otoplasty are permanent. It is important that the patient is aware that a local anaesthetic is usually used for this type of cosmetic surgery, although the patient’s preferences and the appraisal of the surgeon will also be taken into account at the time of operating. If, for example, the procedure includes more extensive work or if the operation is going to be performed on a particularly young patient, a general anaesthetic is usually used.

Postoperatorio Cirugía de Orejas

During the postoperative stage after ear surgery the patient will have to wear a bandage that compresses and shapes the ear, while also helping with the healing. After the surgeon removes the bandage, the patient will have to wear a supportive headband for three weeks. A hugely positive aspect of this procedure is that the results are permanent, meaning that no further treatment will be required.
